There's still time for the Americans to relent, but I don't think they'll avail themselves of the opportunity to do so now, any more than they've availed themselves of it in the past!
They'll just keep going deeper and deeper into iniquity and rebellion, until finally history takes them over the edge and into the great abyss, into the bottomless chasm of total failure!
“I read the news today, oh, boy!” The bottom's dropping out the the economy faster than the rise of gas prices. One guy at the newstand said to me, “I don't know, but my 401k's now a 101k!” (This, after reading the headlines about the 3 trillion dollars of retirement funds wiped out in just fifteen months!)
I said, “Have a little hope: the worst is yet to come! You've so far only lost 20%, so it's really a 301k!” You've got to try to maintain a little perspective in times like these, and either keep or develop a sense of humor. Three trillion dollars, $3,000,000,000,000, wow! That's more money than most of the world's economies have made during the entire history of mankind - lost in just fifteen months! The Americans like everything fast, so the Lord's dishing it up fast!
I told the guy, as he was climbing into his gas guzzler, “Well, you can't blame God for this one! He's been warning them for years, and they still haven't listened! All I can say is, 'Sic 'em, Lord!'”
God's taking a collection, that's what's happening - and when He does this, it's usually at the most unfortunate moment, just when you think you've gotten away with it and ahead is nothing but smooth sailing! nbsp; You can't keep robbing/withholding from the poor and expect God to just sit idly by casually watching their destruction.
At some point, He's going to stand up and say, “Enough's enough!“ - and He's going to start marshalling His forces of good and organizing a proper, just and righteous response against the wicked, the persistent and overwhelming response of God's indignation against the perpetrators, teachers, prophets and organizers of sheer greed and the economics of pure self-justification.
The Christian Body rising up to defend the rich and to compel their repentance isn't going to work either. It's not going to do a bit of good - no more than Jeremiah's tears and pleas for Israel's repentance, or the religionist's retort against his so-called “treachery” and betrayal of (supposedly) God's people did in that day and situation! “We are the people of the Lord” isn't going to charm God into supporting the wicked, either! As long it profits to practice evil economics, the wicked will continue to practice it! Put your thinking cap on, friend! Have a little faith, but don't be a damned fool, for Christ's sake!
Can the worldlings and the antichrists be stopped through political means? No! They own politics! Politics is the religion of the rich and powerful, one of the means by which they subdue the masses - just as much as religion is their opiate, which they sell, and even give away, in order to placate their aching, sinful consciences and keep the people they're taking advantage of from doing anything substantive about it! (Oil's down to its lowest price in years, but who at the gas pump can see it?)
Any Christian who thinks good can be wrought from an evil empire and ungodly practices is deceived - compromised, blind and ignorant - and in rebellion against the truth of God's Word! (Matthew 7:18; Luke 6:43 - Mark 16:15) Let this sort go to his ditch, and his friend, family and associates with him! (Matthew 15:14; Luke 6:39) But let those whose faith is in God's Word rejoice and be exceedingly glad, even though “a thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand;” (Psalm 91:7) “it shall not come nigh thee!”
[Just a parting note: There's been a plethora of secular organizations and enterprises springing up lately in defense and support of the poor. Secular organizations, philosophies and mechanisms taking over Christian duties in the world are part of the problem, not the solution! Don't listen to them! Quit giving God's money to them, thinking you're doing God service, no matter how sweet, righteous an smooth are their words! Stick to building up the kingdom of God on earth! Amen? What's wrong with that?]
